Health and Food Programs

Eligibility requirements vary depending on the specific benefit program. When meeting with HOPES staff, please bring proof of income for the most recent 4 weeks of work, such as pay stubs or a notarized letter from your employer. 

Health Programs

Health Insurance Enrollment

  • In partnership with GetCoveredNJ and CMS.

  • HOPES works to connect New Jersey residents to health insurance options now available under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

  • Open enrollment opens on November 1 and closes on January 31st each year.

 

Health Screenings and Referrals

  • HOPES actively educates the community about free cancer screenings 

  • Makes referrals through the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program (NJCEED).  Services provided through NJCEED:

    • Education outreach screening

    • Case management tracking follow-up facilitation into treatment

    • The NJCEED Program follows the American Cancer Society's cancer screening guidelines

  • HOPES will also refer willing clients who are smokers to the New Jersey Quitline

Food Programs

SNAP Assistance

  • HOPES Community Advocates assist individuals in applying for SNAP benefits. 

  • Individuals applying for SNAP can also access the free Food Pantry at the Family Resource Center in Hoboken.

Food Distributions

  • HOPES Community Programs organizes free food distributions in Plainfield and Somerset, supported by community partners, volunteers, and the full engagement of the agency's staff.
